Day 12: Out the Window

Here is another photo from Thursday, the day we were bombarded with snow.
I was stranded downtown Minneapolis, as St Thomas closed early and I missed the last shuttle to St Paul.

I walked to the light rail and took it to my old stop (from before I moved to St Paul), so Jeff wouldn't have to drive all the way to downtown Minneapolis.

It was fun to ride the train again!

This was taken from the window at one of the stops.

Made by ME!

Lucky you!

The first 5 people to respond to this post will get something made by me!
My choice.
For you.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2- What I create will be just for you.
3- It'll be done this year.
4- You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a story. It may be a picture of myself, or a handmade piece of artwork for your living room. I may sew you something. I may bake you something. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
5- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch?

Oh, the catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog. The first 5 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they did win a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me! Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it!

LETS PLAY!

Day 10: Driving in the Snow

We got bombarded with snow today.
This picture was taken after spending a couple hours driving in the snow (to and from school). I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't have a garage!
Tomorrow I may feel differently, as we just might be snowed into our garage. :-)

Day 9: Up in a Tree

I don't know if this depicts winter exactly, but I did take the picture in February, so it counts, right?!
We were surprised to see such a beautiful cardinal on our walk today-
even more surprised I was able to get a picture before it flew away!

Day 8: Playing in the Snow

Sallie LOVES to play in the snow.
She is so funny to watch as she runs and plays.
Sometimes the way she jumps, I think she's mimicking the bunnies she likes to chase!
Stupid leash...it's always getting in her way.

Day 7: Scrappy Sallie

Well, I'll be honest, I didn't take these today, or scrapbook them today.
BUT...
It is a fun winter scrapbook page with my favorite subject--Sallie!

Day 6: Snug as a Bug!

Even our little girl, Sallie, likes to cuddle all up in lots of blankets in the cold Minnesota winter!

Day 5: Snowbeard

With the freshly fallen snow, Sallie has been coming in with the cutest snowbeard.
Naturally, today, when I wanted to capture it on film, she didn't get as much snow on her face.
Trust me, she does have some snow drooping like a beard!
Guess I'll have to try another day.

Day 4: Fire!

On a cold, blustery, snowy evening, who doesn't appreciate a glowing fire??

Day 3: Socks

My family lovingly calls them Ugly Socks. Every Christmas the Ugly Sock Fairy pays me a visit. This Christmas was a particularly good year!

This picture is just a sampling of some of the fun socks in my drawer.

Winter can be so cold and dreary...at least my feet will be warm! :-)

Day 2: Footsteps in the Snow

I love the look of freshly fallen snow. It's so tranquil and peaceful.
The first steps in that snow seem to carry an almost sacred feeling to me.

Dinner Tonight: Mexican

Dinner turned out so great tonight! Mexican rice, black beans and cheese quesadillas...all from scratch! I was so impressed with how tasty everything turned out.

A week or so ago, my friend taught me how to make Mexican rice from scratch the way her mother-in-law taught her (Her mother-in-law is from Mexico). I had to modify it slightly with what I can in my cupboards/fridge, but I was so happy with the results. It was very flavorful. Unfortunately, some of the rice was still a little hard, so it's definitely not perfected.

The black beans I made a few days ago and just had to reheat. These were not from a can! I did a quick soak with them (boil for two minutes and then let sit for a few hours), and then I boiled them for about two or so hours, adding salt during the last 1/2 hour or so. I thought they turned out delicious, but Jeff didn't really get a chance to taste them by themselves because they went right into a taco soup. On their own tonight, he said they were delicious, which made me smile.

No secret to the quesadillas. We just love those!!

Day 1: Winter

Our first theme is Winter. Tonight it was snowing, so I attempted to take a picture of the falling snow from my balcony. Naturally it didn't really capture the snow, but it does still look like a nice Winterscape.
